You know what would be awesome?
When I fist started to show interest to yarn based crafting everyone I knew seemed to want to get rid of their spare materials. So I quickly acquired a large amount of random yarn and hooks. Now imagine there was a search engine that if you put the size hook and which yarn you had to use, it would give you possible patterns to do with the specified materials
That’s ravelry.com. You can browse patterns by a whole bunch of different criteria like hook/needle size, yarn weight, crochet, knitting, etc. You have to make an account, but after that it’s smooth sailing. Hope this helps!
My little brother got into outer space and stuff so my step-mom bought him a place mat with all the planets on it. When I first saw it, I was upset, because it was newer and so Pluto wasn’t labeled. I was about to say something when I noticed something…
Pluto is there.
The artist remembered Pluto.
Guys…
The artist drew Pluto crying.
ALL OF MY TEARS.
It’s too hot to knit and I’m bored. And there’s nothing on tv. So this is me pouting and whining about it.
i hate this
Wow yeah, this is dumb. Screaming mini brats are a great reason to stay alive. Also, I can’t tell if number one says “already are” or “already ate.” Eating’s a pretty great reason to stay alive.
Reservoir Mitts by Allyson Dykhuizen also from Knitscene accessories 2012.
Entrelac gloves, I love it!
One of the most gorgeous and creative pair of gloves I’ve ever seen.
Crochet Friends, please reblog until I find an answer.
I need your help! I am relatively new to crochet. I have worked on this blanket for the past three months. I only had about 12 rows left.
Last night, as I was asleep, my husband’s cat dragged it to a corner (I usually have it in a bag, but he pulled it out. He’s a big cat) and took a big pee on it. I’ve already called my mom, and looked around for some help, but they either say “start over”, which is a horrifying though, or use bleach. I can’t use bleach, because the colors would be ruined. The technical stuff. It is about 5 feet long, and four feet wide. I plan to finish it before I wash it or anything because I’ve been told never wash an unfinished project. The thought of working on a cat pee pee blanket is much less hurtful than the thought of starting over. The yarn is 100% Acrylic. The black is “RED HEART” and the red and white are “I Love This Yarn”. The little hangy ends are finished off, I just didn’t want to cut right at the stitch, so they’re going to be weaved in. But I don’t know if I should do this before or after it gets washed.
TL;DR, a cat took a pee pee on my blanket, how do I get it out?
Please help me, fellow crocheters! And heck, if you knitters know a thing or two, please help!
If there aren’t any visible stains(I can’t tell by the photo), then finishing and washing it would work just fine. If there are stains, I would finish it as fast as possible, then throw it in the washer with detergent and some sort of stain fighter like oxy-clean; the longer you leave something stained, the harder it is to get clean.
I saw a “crocheters do it with chains” picture today and I was inspired to create this. Boom! In your face “hookers.”
What I don’t understand is why some knitters and crocheters don’t get along. I knit and crochet, and one isn’t any better than the other as a craft. Even though I have preferences as to which I’d choose to make certain items, I enjoy both crafts equally. Example: I learned to crochet for the sole purpose of making amigurumi, and learned to knit so I could make my boyfriend a hat. Would I knit amigurumi? Sure, I’m getting a book in the mail today which will teach me to do just that. Would I crochet a hat? I have before, and the only beef I have with crocheted garments is that they tend not to keep their shape as well as a knitted garment. It could be the yarn I’m using; I’ve never crocheted with expensive yarn. The only yarn I owned up until I learned to knit was acrylic, because who wants to spend loads on yarn for amigurumis? Acrylic is bright, cheap, and generally holds up to wear and tear, which is why I use it for toys. I’ve bought a little more expensive yarn for my knitting, because most of it is going to be worn and I’ve found that wool is generally warmer than acrylic.
TL;DR: Knitting and crocheting are both fun and awesome hobbies, and a great way to spend your time. STOP turning up your nose at people just because they enjoy a craft you don’t, or vice versa. Also, don’t be a yarn snob. It makes you sound bitchy and entitled. /end rant
Um, no. Maybe not everybody can afford a $40 skein of handspun/designer yarn. Sure, some cheap yarn IS low quality, but that isn’t always the case. There are many inexpensive yarns that are just as good as the pricey stuff. As long as it’s soft, durable, and looks nice, it’s good enough for me. Go suck on a muffler, yarn snobs.
I love knitting. I think I’ve probably mentioned that at some point on this blog. I really love knitting. I like all sorts of things about it. I like how ridiculously cool it is to use such incredibly simple tools to make such incredibly complex things. I love how you can make three dimensional objects. I’m head over heels for how bizarre it is that every stitch pattern is driven out of the idea of one stitch- made so it faces the front or the back. I can’t get over how great it is that knitting uses yarn (I love yarn) and that there’s so many kinds of yarn. I love that it’s an act of creation, when you knit you’re literally making something that was not there before, and how cool is that?
